The Gallery

Nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, about two miles from famous el Santuario de Chimayo, and about 35 minutes from Sante Fe, is the Oviedo Carvings & Bronze Gallery, It is located on a working ranch breeding of a heritage breed of donkeys (Centinela Mammoth Donkey Reserve). The ranch also houses the workshop and foundry for the bronze castings and wood carvings.

Visitors are welcome at a modern, hacienda style gallery that lies in the center of the property. The gallery displays much of Marco’s work which sometimes includes work by his sons. You can see at the glance the incredible diversity of Marco’s work, ranging from traditional Hispanic sculptures, to sculptures in tribute to the Native American culture, to whimsical and contemporary pieces. There is a selection in the gallery for any pocket book. Many people enjoy collecting the whimsically compelling “fetishes” that Marco created. Nearly all are under $100. Others enjoy the larger, coffee-table (or desk-top) display pieces which are also very affordably priced. All of Marco’s pieces, large and small, have the same high-quality craftsmanship and beautiful design.

The Oviedo Gallery is open daily from 12:00 AM to 5:00 PM, otherwise by appointment. You may contact the gallery at (505) 351-2280 or (505) 690-1241.
